Silent Soldiers: Trees of the Battlefield
Thursday, October 25, 2012
Time: 7:00pm-8:00pm
Outdoors Event
Sometimes it’s hard to see the forest for the trees, and many of the majestic trees of the National Military Park are remarkable to regard. Discover more about some of these trees and their uses during the Civil War. Learn how to recognize them and which ones were prevalent in the 1860s but no longer exist. We are very pleased to welcome guest speaker Dr. Beth Brantley from Penn State University of Mont Alto.
The family-friendly summer series will be held at the Amphitheater on the Gettysburg Battlefield. The amphitheater is located along Southwest Confederate Avenue in historic district, southwest of the center of town at the Longstreet monument. If looking at a Park map, it is located at Pitzer’s woods. There is no charge for the program, but donations are greatly appreciated.
Please note that this program had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather on the original date.
